The burn time of our candles may vary depending on the vessel and the environment in which the candle is burning. In ideal conditions, 150g candles burn for approximately 30 hours, 255g candles burn for approximately 50 hours, and 350g candles burn for approximately 70 hours.
Please note that we aim to ensure all of our candles are as long lasting as possible however burn times do vary based on a variety of factors. These include candle maintenance and trimming, candle placement (air-conditioned and drafty areas may effect burn times) the length of each continuous burn time and the age of the candle. To get the most out of your candles we always advise that you follow the enclosed burning instructions.

All Umbr Tree candles are made with our proprietary all-natural coconut soy wax blend, a blend of essential oils and phthalate-free fine fragrance oils and a 100% lead-free cotton wick. Our wax blend also contains Beeswax which is a natural air purifier. The candles contain no added dyes, additives, preservatives, paraffin or other petroleum by-products, and no toxins or harmful chemicals.
Yes. As the wax level drops, the wicks effectively become longer so we advise that you trim the wicks to 5mm and ensure they're upright prior to each new burn.
If you burn for less than one hour the wax may not be melted all the way to the edge of the container. Once this happens, the candle can form a pattern of tunnelling which leaves unmelted wax around the edges. This may reduce the overall fragrance throw and eventually may drown the wicks so the candle will not stay alight. If you burn for longer than four hours, the candle wick can become quite long and may fall onto the side of the container, or heat the container.
A candle wick requires trimming between burns or if the candle has been burning continuously for two or more hours. The wicks should be trimmed to about 5mm from the wax, only then will the candle stop emitting carbon - the black residue. If there is black residue on your candle jar, use a dry piece of paper towel and wipe clean.
Store candles in a cool, dark and dry place and keep like scents together. Keep candles out of direct sunlight or near a heat source. Candles have low melting points, so never leave candles in your car on warm days.
Drafts are the reason - causing the flame to burn to one side. Another reason could be that the holder is not resting on a level surface and the wick is not centered and straight.
The flame may become low if the candle has burned for more hours than normal. Also sometimes, wax around the sides melts fast and reduces the length of the exposed wick and drowns the flame. If the flame is too low, and there is melted wax in the pool under the flame, blow out the candle, carefully pour out a small amount of wax and relight. While doing this, carefully expose more of the wick by digging out a little wax around the wick. This should allow the candle to be relit.
If the flame of any candle seems too high, chances are the wick needs to be trimmed. Blow out the candle, trim the wick and relight the candle. This should correct the problem.
You may think that wax and fragrance makes a candle but the most important thing in a candle is the wick. The whole burning process of a candle depends upon the wick, so a larger wick may create smoke and a smaller wick may lead to tunneling in a candle. You should always check if the wicks are made with 100% natural cotton fibres and that they are coated with natural vegetable waxes. A lead/ zinc wick or a wick made of non-natural materials create toxic smoke that may be harmful to your health. Wicks coated with paraffin or other petroleum products would defeat the purpose of an all-natural wax candle. This is why we make our own wicks at our factory using 100% cotton wicks coated with our 100% natural wax blend for all our candles.
Natural wax candles are made of vegetable wax and/or beeswax. Vegetable wax is produced from the oils of plants and beeswax is a natural wax produced by honey bees. All natural waxes are biodegradable, sustainable, burn clean and have a strong scent throw and last for thrice as long as compared to a paraffin wax candle. The natural properties and premium quality make natural wax candles a little expensive than average paraffin scented candles but they’re surely worth the price.
Yes! Soy wax is very non-reactive and even though someone may be allergic to soy in foods, in order for the allergy to take place, the soy must be digested to enter the bloodstream. If it's burned, the protein chains are broken up and are no longer the same molecules that could cause the allergy.
No, not all natural wax candles are the same. Some candle brands mark their candle as “natural and/or soy candles” by just using 25% soy wax and 75% chemical waxes. Not only do they use other chemical waxes but they also include metal core wicks along with cheap chemical fragrance oils, whereas a pure organic natural wax candle is supposed to have 100% vegetable and natural waxes like soy, coconut, palm and beeswax.
No. The minuscule amount of soot produced by a candle is a natural byproduct of incomplete combustion. Candle soot is similar to everyday household sources of soot such as from kitchen toasters and cooking oils and is not considered a health concern.
Yes, Umbr Tree candles are vegan. Our proprietary wax blend is made of all natural coconut, soy and palm waxes including beeswax, for its unmatched air purification properties. We do not add any additives, dyes, paraffin or petroleum products to our candles. We are cruelty-free and our products are not tested on animals.
Yes, you should buy different fragrance candles for different living spaces because they would help in creating an ambiance that reflects the room’s purpose. This one is the most important question and some people often complain that there is no fragrance in a candle. So, the total number of aromatic candles you should be burning so that the entire room smells good depends upon the size of the room. One scented candle might be enough for a small room or bathroom, but for a larger room or hallway, you should burn at least two to three scented candles together.

All deliveries will be made via courier service and a signature is needed. Please make sure someone is at the delivery address who will be able to do this. If you do miss your scheduled delivery, the courier should intimidate you or leave a notification card and try again the following working day using the same delivery option or that you'll be collecting your gift from the courier depot instead. If the courier has popped round 2 times to deliver your goods without any luck, the package will come back to us. If this happens, we'll charge you for any return and ask you to re-send any costs to us.
